Audio to SRT FAQ
What is an SRT file?+
SRT is the simplest and most common subtitle format. It is a plain text file with numbered blocks, and each block has a start time, an end time and a line or two of text. Video platforms and editors read it and show the text on the picture at the right moment.
How are the timings made?+
The tool listens to the recording and notes when each word starts and ends. Words are then grouped into short caption lines of a readable length, and each line gets the time of its first and last word. That keeps the captions in step with the speaker.
Can I edit the captions afterwards?+
Yes. The SRT file is plain text, so you can open it in any text editor, or in a subtitle editor, and fix a name, a brand term or a line break. Run a quick read through before you publish, because automatic captions can misspell unusual words.
Where can I use the file?+
Upload it with your video on YouTube, Facebook or LinkedIn, or import it into editors such as CapCut, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve and Final Cut. Some platforms, such as Instagram and TikTok, burn captions in the editor instead, so import the SRT into the editor you use for those.
How long can the recording be, and what does it cost?+
Up to 30 minutes, as audio or video. The price depends on the length of the recording, in a few steps, and shows on the run button before you spend anything. Credit packs are listed on the pricing page.
Do I need a subscription?+
Pay once with credit packs, or go monthly. Pack credits never expire. Failed runs are refunded. You can open an account for free and look at the tool before you buy credits.
