When a swap beats a reshoot
You have a video ad that works: the hook lands, the pacing holds and people ask where to buy. Then the product changes. A new colour, a new bottle, a bundle, the next item in the catalog. A reshoot means booking the creator again, matching the light and hoping the take is as good. Replacing the product in the clip you already have keeps what made the ad work and changes only the item.
Inflyu does this with the object swap in the video editor, described on the AI video object swap page. You upload the ad, name the item to replace and add a photo or a description of the new one. The steps below are the ones that give the cleanest result.
Step 1: pick a clip the swap can read
Not every clip swaps equally well. Before you upload, check three things.
- The product is clearly visible for most of the clip and is not covered by a hand for long.
- The light is even. Very dark, fast-blurred or heavily reflective shots give weaker swaps.
- You have the right to edit it: your own footage, licensed stock, or a creator video you have permission to reuse.
Uploads can be up to 190 MB. A swap makes a 4, 6, 8 or 15 seconds, or a whole clip up to 30 seconds result. On a longer clip you choose where the swap starts, so put the part where the product is in focus inside that window.
Step 2: prepare the product photo
A photo is optional on a clip of 4 seconds or more, but it pins down the shape and colour of the new item. The photo that works best is the one most stores already have: the product alone, sharp, on a plain background, filling most of the frame. A photo where the product is small or sits in a busy scene gives a weaker swap. If you have no photo, describe the product in one sentence: what it is, its colour, its material and its size next to a hand.
A clip under 4 seconds is a single edit and needs a photo.
Step 3: name what to replace
The most common mistake is a vague prompt. "Add my product" leaves the model to guess. "Replace the white bottle in her right hand with the product in my photo" says which item, where it is and what takes its place. If the clip shows several products, name the one you want changed. To change more than one thing at once, a multi-swap replaces up to 3 people or objects in one job, each with its own photo.
Step 4: preview, then run the video
On a clip of 4 seconds or more, Inflyu splits the clip at its cuts and edits each shot, so the product is swapped in every shot and the cuts and timing stay. A free account with a verified email first gets a free preview picture: one moment of your clip with the new product in it, carrying a small mark. When the picture looks good, one short video of up to 6 seconds is free too, with a locked end. The full video needs a credit pack, from $1.99.
What it costs
A shot-by-shot swap is priced per shot and length, starting at 11 credits for 4s, 16 for 6s, 21 for 8s and 37 for 15s. Clips with more shots cost more because every shot gets its own edited frame, and the editor shows the exact price before you run it. If a run fails, the credits go back to your balance automatically. Pack credits never expire, so a pack bought for one campaign is still there for the next.
Check before you post
Shape and colour carry over well. Small print, fine logos and very detailed labels may not come out exactly, so watch the whole clip at full size before you post it. Look at the hands too: the whole frame is re-rendered, so small changes to fingers or the background can appear. If the label matters, show a close-up of the real product as a separate shot or in the caption.
One clip, the whole catalog
Once one swap works, run the same clip with the next product. Every run is a new file and the original stays untouched. Sellers with many items use one strong hand-held or unboxing clip as a template for the catalog; the AI product video swap page covers that flow. To learn what made the ad work, change one thing per version instead: the product, the presenter or the setting. The video ad variations page shows how.
Keep it honest
Show the product the buyer gets. A swapped clip is an AI edit, so disclose AI content where the law or the platform requires it, and never use a swap to show a feature, size or finish the real product does not have. Credit packs and their prices are on the pricing page.
